Recapping the SPDNZ Study Day
Kia ora,
The Specialist Paediatric Dentists of New Zealand (SPDNZ) group met virtually again for a Study Day on 22 July 2023. The group had an amazing day filled with outstanding educational presentations and renowned local and international speakers from Australia, Europe and New Zealand presenting on a range of different topics in paediatric dentistry.
Our keynote speaker Prof Katrin Bekes (Professor and Chair of Department of Paediatric Dentistry, Medical University of Vienna, Austria and President of German Society of Paediatric Dentistry) presented to us on the European perspective on management of MIH. The group found Prof Bekes talk to be informative and it was useful to hear a different perspective.
Dr Mihiri Silva gave an insight into several research projects in which she has partnered locally and internationally with colleagues around the world. She shared her research via a presentation titled From observation to intervention: Evidence-based approaches to improving the oral health of children.
Dr Vanessa Cho presented her research project Eye-tracking in dentistry: What do children notice? which the group found it interesting, informative and useful.
Thank you to all the local speakers for their time and sharing knowledge with our group.
